I just finished my new diorama, “Eerie Footsteps,” which features a lone Plague Doctor walking through a cemetery under the cover of night. It’s my very first time creating a scene set after dark, and I wanted to challenge myself by experimenting with OSL (object source lighting). The lantern is the main light source, casting warm glows across the cold gravestones and creating an eerie contrast that draws you right into the moment.

Even though working with darker color palettes was new to me, I loved pushing the boundaries of how shadows and subtle highlights can shape the overall atmosphere. Every gravestone is slightly tilted to suggest age and neglect, and the muted blues and grays throughout the scene help the lantern’s glow stand out. I’m thrilled with how this diorama turned out—it feels like you can almost hear the slow rustle of footsteps on gravel. If you have any questions or thoughts on “Eerie Footsteps,” I’d love to hear them.
